Linear Sympathy
EXPERIENTIAL SHOW
Overview:
As featured in LA Dance Chronicle, Linear Sympathy was the fruit of two separate artist residencies, first at Benjamin Millepied’s LA Dance Project, and subsequently at VOCAL art space.
The central idea of the show is that it is a deconstructed dance film. The audience watches in realtime as the dance film is live-directed before their eyes. They can see the dancer in the room before them, as well as through the lens of the steadicam, and still photography, being sent live through floor to ceiling projections.
The complexities of this show actually necessitated that I create new wireless technology for sending signals through TouchDesigner, in order for the projectors to receive live feeds direct from the cameras.
