Overview:
This simple (and impossible to lose) video game is a maximalist meditation on early-1990s 8-bit style platform games, leaning into a Lisa Frank aesthetic.
I really like the idea of games that don’t play by the expected rules: taking a familiar trope and then making it do something different than people expect.
In this instance, there’s no way to lose. No matter what the player does, if they play long enough they will win. There are firm boundaries to the world, so there’s only so far the player can go in either direction and for each object collected, 5 more drop from the sky, so over time as the player grows into a ridiculously massive unicorn, the world is overtaken by the prize objects and then you win and the game starts over.
There is truly no purpose.
I creative directed and coded the entire thing using the P5-Play game engine.
