Overview:

A film by Safety Third, VORTICES is a screen dance featuring cinematography by Sinziana Velicescu and Shimmy Boyle, which sees a kaleidoscope of dancers inhabit an austere desert landscape with impressive athleticism and attack. Directed by choreographer Katherine Helen Fisher and Michael Shedlin, and set to a driving score by new music composer Anna Meredith, VORTICES is constructed in the minimalistic tradition of Babette Mangolte and Lucinda Childs, unfurling complex patterns with simple steps in a colorful tapestry of form and rigor.

Written up and featured by StandardVision as part of their artist-spotlight series, SV Presents, VORTICES was shown on Digital Out of Home screen all around Los Angeles and featured by the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.
